While Microsoft has made no official announcement concerning a (much needed) update to Office for Mac, sources within Microsoft have stated that the team is working on an updated version which will be available to Office 365 subscribers at no additional cost. It will be interesting to see if the complete suite will be updated. The stability of portions of the Office Suite for Mac is not near as good as the Windows counterparts.

Possibly, as a counter to Evernote and other competitors, Microsoft has released OneNote for Mac on March 17th and made it free for all platforms. OneNote has been praised for years for its excellence in note taking, web clipping and annotation features. OneNote can also calculate math and record audio and video making it great for students.

Office for iPad is a product that was expected to languish until a touch-ready version had been completed for Windows tablets, but executives in Microsoft had a change of heart near the end of 2013. It is quite possible that the iPad version will be released as soon as this summer. Microsoft has built their business on software, and it will benefit them to keep people using their software on whatever device is used.
