Charging Gadgets With Your Body

The movie, The Matrix (1999), depicted machines using humans as an electrical source. While the movie is science fiction, scientists have found ways to generate electricity from our own body heat.
Researchers have developed a thin, flexible patch made in a process similar to fiberglass, with woven layers of fibers that make it lighter than other materials used previously. While the project aims to maximize power output, it would still take a patch 10 inches by 40 inches to provide enough power for a smartphone.
The team from the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology says, “…the technology could also be used to capture wasted heat from cars, factories, planes and boats.” One day, the reliance on batteries could be greatly reduced or even eliminated in electronic devices.
