Would You Upgrade Windows for Free?
|Would You Upgrade Windows for Free?|
Microsoft may be toying with the idea of releasing Windows 8 for free. Would you be tempted to upgrade if it would not cost anything? There have been performance improvements and interface enhancements that offer an updated experience over Windows 7 and previous versions. That sounds pretty good, right?
What if this free Windows was a slightly different version? In order to benefit Microsoft more, they may only allow the use of their own services: Bing as the only search provider, integrated OneDrive, Bing Maps, and so on. If you wanted to be able to use other providers for these kinds of services, then you would need to purchase a license. Windows 8.1 with Bing may be available soon as part of a new strategy from Microsoft to get their services out front even more.
It is still uncertain whether Microsoft will release Windows for free, but they are certainly looking for any way they can get more people using more of their services to battle Google. Would you upgrade Windows for free even if it meant you would need to change the services you use?
